If I Was A Boy

I felt like I looked like my husband this morning when I got dressed. Well, except the shoes of course ;)

 Ben rolls his skinny jeans up and loves his flannel shirts ;)

(top- Alex Lehr, jeans- JBrand, glasses- Norma Kamali, asterisk ring- Wendy Brandes, shoes- Jeffrey Campbell)

These Jeffrey Campbell Litas (SoleStruck.com) are ridiculously comfortable. I love finding heels like that because then even when I want to be comfy I don't necessarily have to wear flats.

It's funny how sometimes the lower priced shoes are the most comfortable. Maybe it's because European lasts are so much narrower? Whatever it is, its effed up. More money should mean more comfort. In a perfect world...

Friends and Fashion Week, Part Deux!

I can't believe how crazy last week was!! It felt more like a month than a week and I am still totally exhausted.
I already told you about the first 2 days and here are the next two:

Sunday the 12th-
Started off the day with my favorite activity.... shopping. Then later, dinner with my sis and my very favorite blogger friends. Wendy B of Wendy Brandes, Princess Poochie of Shoe Daydreams, and Jennine of The Coveted.
We had so much fun it was almost surreal. We had delicious pizza and wine and talked about things like my new Wendy B swear rings, Jennine's amazing forte into the shoe design world and our plans for a flash mob and a possible new website. Total top secret. ;) It was a girls night out for the books. We had such a good time.

Monday the 13th-
First off- The Betsey Johnson runway show!! I was super excited to go and see my shoes on the catwalk. Do people still say catwalk? Whatever.
I was running late and couldn't get backstage for the pre-show excitement and photos. Sorry guys.

RIDE ME? Oh Betsey you nasty gal!! The theme of the show was Tour de Betsey... bicycles! Bets came out on a bike at the end but then got off of it to do her signature cartwheel. When asked she said "as long as I'm on the runway, I'm doing a cartwheel!" I love it!

It was a fabulous fun show, as always. Then backstage I went...

"Tell us Betsey... what was your favorite part about making this collection?"
"Working with my shoe designer, Celine!! She is so inspirational!!"

haha

Betsey with Ciara. Two beautiful women :)

and the shoes!!!

(photos of models on runway- NY Mag the rest are my own)

Later that night......

Wendy invited my sister and I to see her friend and georgeous blogger Stacy Lomman's fashion show. I met up with Poochie after Betsey and we went together.

The show was beautiful and I was honored to be invited! My pictures were only OK so here are some I stole from Wendy...
Wendy's beautiful earring design

My favorite look...

The desiger

and her captive audience after the show

What a fun night!! I felt so inspired and was excited to see two completely different shows.
I wore my spine shoes and got lots of comments on them :)

....Ok so I was going to keep going but I'll have to continue again.... this is getting really long. Stay tuned for more and what I did the next few days!!! :)

The Time Has Come

It's almost Fashion Week again and time to go to New York. To celebrate I've decided to finally nut up and buy my first piece, or in this case pieces, of Wendy Brandes Jewelry! I just need your help deciding which ones to go with!

There's the original swear rings...

seen here in print. So cool

The new and amazing OMG rings...

and of course, the NYC rings that would be perfect for the occasion though they may not be as well received on my home coast. ;) I don't want to start an East Coast West Coast shoe rivalry or anything.
On second thought, that could be fun.

"Get the Gaga rings!!" you say?? Well They aren't for sale. So help me pick between the others! ;)

Check out Wendy's other pieces too. She's really great at making beautiful super original and always thoughtful pieces. There's always a story behind all her work and it's so inspiring to see the passion that goes into it.
On top of being a fabulous jewelry designer Wendy is also spectacularly beautiful and sweet as can be. Check her out if you haven't already.  She and her blog are hilarious! www.wendybrandes.com/blog

Skeleton Arm and a Leg

OMG. When I blogged about that amazing piece yesterday I had NO idea it could ever cost so much!

Thanks to reader Amanda for sending me the link to this:

First of all- It's even more beautiful than I originally thought. It's amazing! But still, at an almost $30,000 I can't even imagine ever owning it.

It does however, make this amazing (100% more wearable) skull and bone themed necklace by Wendy Brandes seem much more attainable!

I WILL own this someday. I will I will...

~~~~~~~~~~ ♥ ~~~~~~~~~~
Oh wait... what's that you say? Import fees and shipping are INCLUDED in the price???
Well then, that's a different story! How kind of you Luisaviaroma!! I'll take two!
What's the most you've ever paid for an amazing piece of jewelry??
Me and Wendy B
So I was in NY last week for a Betsey Johnson meeting and while I was there I had the pleasure of taking the beautiful and talented Wendy Brandes on a date. ;)
Well... she was my date to the FFANY and QVC Shoes on Sale event anyway.
My camera was dead and Wendy's was halfway there so we only got ONE picture together in which I look like an over excited weirdo... which I kind of am I suppose.
If you guys think she's cute and sassy on her blog, you should meet her. So much fun and impossibly gorgeous!
Wendy wore this Jean-Charles de Castelbajac motorcycle-zipper dress and vintage motorcycle jacket...
I wore this amazing D&G dress (thanks for the dress loan Amita!!) and my favorite new YSLs, plus the chains I had been wearing all day and my leather jacket.
I laughed when I met Wendy at the bar and we both had our bad ass jackets on. I should have known we were in for a good night. ;)
At the shoe event we rocked out to a loungy version of Gold Digger, ate semi crappy hors d'oeuvres and made fun of bad footwear and old shoe dogs (a term given to men who have worked in the shoe biz for years)
Wendy met my dad and a few other dudes from Titan- all of whom made sure to let me know how pretty they thought my friend was.
Then it was off to Matsuri for some sushi and gossip. We ordered WAY too much... as the Germans say, our eyes were bigger than our stomaches. Hahaha
Good times. I'm very excited for our next adventure together.
And in case you were wondering- I am wearing my bra on my head as I write this post. It's just been one of those weeks so far. Don't believe me? I'll prove it-
xoxo
I ♥ NY
It's so beautiful in New York today!
Slightly overcast- moving into Fall but not cold... perfect sweatshirt/leather jacket weather! God, I love this city. If I could have a do-over I'd have come here instead of San Francisco for design school.
Anyway...
I am totally loving this Giles and Bros chain necklace! I got it at Intermix and I try to wear it whenever possible even though I always feel a little but like Mr. T ;)
NY = lots of walking. These are some of my favorite boots for walking and being comfortable. They're Miu Miu from a few years ago.
(sweatshirt- Urban Outfitters, jeans- JBrand, shoes- Miu Miu, necklace- Giles & Bro, leather jacket- Sylvia Rielle)
I can't wait for tonight! My stupid camera died so hopefully Wendy B brings hers! I'll be sure to get some pictures somehow...
Purposely Tacky
I'm buried in work right now getting ready for my upcoming trip to DAZZLE Betsey and her team with another new collection but I wanted to put up a quick outfit post!
Inspired by Betsey actually- here's what I wore today! I love this sweater even though/because it's bright and obnoxious and kinda looks like a granny sweater. Ha!
(dress- Freemont, sweater and bangle- F21, shoes- L.A.M.B., glasses- RayBan)
Picked myself up a little pair of L.A.M.B.s 'cause they're seriously hot. Also seriously high, but totally worth it!
Oh! So like I said, I'm going to NY... well while I'm there I'm going to be attending an event for QVC and FFANY hosted by Jessica Simpson and I've asked Wendy Brandes to be my date! I'm super excited to meet one of my favorite sassy fashion bloggers. If you haven't already- check her out! She designs some seriously amazing jewelry!!
I'll be sure to get pictures. :)
Back to work!!
