MOvember?

So I just discovered that a mustache's nickname in almost every other place but the good ol USofA is Mo. Makes sense. And people love mo's so much that they dedicate a whole month to growing one out... MOvember. Who knew!?
I've heard of March being Mustache Madness but never Movember. Well anyway... there's a point here (and a chance at FREE shoes!)

Shoevember was created for the partners of men who are participating in Movember - the wives, girlfriends, sisters, colleagues and besties.  The idea was formed after Nude Footwear Director Dean Kolthek took part in 2010’s Movember. His wife and co-Director of Nude Footwear, Selina Kolthek, was (like most other ‘Movember widows’) less than impressed with her husband’s furry upper lip. This led to the idea of creating a reward for those who suffer the most throughout Movember – the women who have to look at the dreaded mo’s for a whole month! I love it!

“After living with Dean’s itchy, scruffy moustache throughout Movember last year, I thought to myself that there needs to be something in it for the ladies!” says Selina, “I certainly wasn’t the only one who had suffered the indignity of my once-smooth-faced husband resembling a Ned Flanders-wannabe…”

And so Shoevember is born, just in time for 2011’s Movember. Shoevember is a Social Media initiative that allows women to win free shoes(!!!), courtesy of Nude Footwear, in exchange for sharing their partner’s Movember mo with the world. The Shoevember campaign asks participants to submit photos of their other half’s moustache via the Nude Footwear Facebook page. Users are encouraged to get their friends to vote for their photo; and at the end of each week in November the top 3 photographs with the most votes each win one free pair of shoes from Nude Footwear. Since I have a dude with a "Mo" I will be participating for sure! Shoevember continues for the whole month, where at the end of the 4 weeks the 12 most popular photographs will go into a draw to win a year’s supply of new Nude Footwear (24 pairs) shoes. This final part of the initiative will be decided by Nude Footwear’s Facebook fans, and will be a super-fast, hotly contested competition - after all, who wouldn’t want to be well heeled for a whole 12 months?
Final voting runs for just 24 hours, so they predict a flurry of frenzied Facebook activity! In addition to this, Nude Footwear will also donate $2000 to the Movember charities, on behalf of the winning entrant’s male partner. After all, it was his moustache that won her the amazing prize in the first place! Shoevember is a fun and light-hearted initiative that offers fantastic rewards for very little outlay. Nude Footwear is excited to launch this innovative campaign, which is predicted to continue for years to come.

So spread the word, and begin by ‘liking’ the Nude Footwear Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/nudefootwear It’s time to rally up your fellow Movember widows and hide your man’s razor… And remember, putting up with a tickly upper lip for 4 weeks could give you a year’s worth of beautiful (and free!) footwear!

xox,

All That Glitters is Not Gold

You guys know I'm obsessed with Miu Miu, and lately I've let my glitter obsession get the better of me... Well, luckily Miu Miu does glitter better than anyone. Proof? Here it is....

A pair of perfect glitter pumps.
This blue is electric! Amazing in person.

I opted for the fushcia. Duh.

XOX,

New Shoes, New Me?

Ok so you know it's hard to have a personal blog without getting personal.
I've said it before but I just want to reiterate... I am not myself right now. Going through a divorce, whether it's your choice or not, is fucking hard. Harder than I could have imagined. There are so many things I never considered, including that this is one of the biggest tests of true friendship I'd ever witness. It's hard to lose your partner and some of your friends at the same time. It's hard to hear people's negative opinions on what you feel is the right thing to do.
Anyway, you get the point... it's HARD.
So, I don't know why it has come to such a shock to me that I haven't wanted to do anything that I used to do -GET THIS- including shopping. My favorite thing ever.

WTF?

I have barely looked twice at shoes. I went through a period of about a month where I didn't wear a pair of heels once! I just couldn't. I joked that my feet were depressed but I'm not sure I was joking.
Then I bought the Miu Miu glitter shoes...

 TAH DAH!

...to cheer myself up. It worked for about 2.5 seconds and then it was back to the pits. And the flats. Then I really wasn't interested in lusting over things like shoes or blogging about shoes, until... New York. Good ol New York and the thrill of fashion week. I honestly don't care too much about going to a bunch of shows but there's just something in the air here. It's so... fashion-y!

Yesterday I bought what I think is one of the coolest shoes of the season. I'm obsessed with creepers! I wore them every day in high school and tried to design my own versions of them for both Betsey Johnson AND Harajuku Lovers but the buyers just didn't get them. They probably never will. They're not commercial enough. Pfffffft- whatever. I've noticed them popping on and off trend for years now. I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU CREEPERS!

Anyway... so into Burberry I went with a clear mission. To get my statement shoe of the season. (Well, my non-glitter statement shoe. I'm making 2 statements really.)

I mean, are you kidding me? They're perfect! My shoe lust is back with a vengeance. I'm scared.

Do you love!? I know creepers aren't for everyone but what do YOU think??

Next shoe on my radar? Well I'm glad you ask. I am obsessing over this amazing heel from hell by Bally (kinda random) I'm hoping they'll come up with some more uppers because I'm not crazy about this one. Feels a little 2010 to me. I just love the heel and platform shape.

AND this super cool extremely curved heel by Walter Steiger... So cool!

I'm feeling ok today. I'm feeling more like The Shoe Girl than I have in a while.

YAY SHOES!!!!!!!!!

XOX,

I'm a Little Slow...

I've never claimed to be the sharpest knife in the drawer but I've never really felt so stupid. It took me 2 months to "get" Tumblr. I don't know what it was that wasn't clicking, or if I just wasn't really trying, but I finally got it.

Since I'm pretty consumed with getting this new line off the ground I'll be posting to Tumbler in between blog posts. Just photos of the shoes I'm wearing and maybe shoes I'm seeing out and about. Quick little shots of, well, my life in heels... ;)

I hope you enjoy it- I think it will be fun and an easy way to share some fun fabulous (and maybe even not so fabulous) shoes! I share a lot of these on Twitter but I realize that a lot of you aren't Twitterers. I get it.
Please check it out and follow me if you'd like. My Tumblr

Loving Prada

These are some of my favorite new shoes that just came down the runway for Spring 2011...

I'm loving the wedges! The mixed materials are really cool.

I love the color combinations too. It's so great to see the return of color to footwear :)

These are SO cool! I love the green and black stripes. The shape of this pump is really sexy and feminine too...

These woven shoes are really sweet and sassy. They remind me of ladies that lunch or the Kentucky Derby.

Crazy colors Miuccia! Ai ai ai!

What do you think?? You like?

One Last Flat Post (For a While)

HELLO!! I've been in Mexico with my hunny bunny celebrating our anniversary so sorry for the silence. I'm back and excited for my spine shoes that are coming in any day now. They got stuck in customs but will hopefully be here Saturday. Fingers crossed!! I have the Emmys Saturday too so I'd like to have the option to wear them just in case I feel like being ultra fierce and perhaps looking like a tranny.

You guys are probably sick of flats so I promise I wont post flats for a while after today. You gotta admit these are pretty great though. Do I look tan?

There she goes with her crop top and vintage culottes again. I like what I like. What can I say.

Yes that's a bolo tie! Hey Wendy B... you like??

This outfit needs some OMG rings.

These are the white pair from Chloe that I was talking about in my other flat post. I love a good deal and I love Chloe so I totally won.

Hey Sneaky Girls!

I'm super excited for my friend and fellow shoe designer Seth Campbell!! His super hot sneaker line just hit Saks.com and got rave reviews. They made Page Six and are already a huge hit with celebs like Madonna, Miley Cyrus, Gwen Stefani, Fergie, Kristen Stewart and Drew Barrymore

I'm not a sneaker kinda girl but on the rare occasion that calls for a sneaker, I would be proud to be caught in UES. These two styles are my favorite...

I just may have to get the snake ones. They're pretty amazing. :)

Flats are Shoes Too.

I know this is my life in heels and not my life in flats, but let's get real... certain occasions call for flats. Example? A birthday bbq!

I went shopping specifically to find some flats and knew I'd find something great on sale since all these crazy retailers have their Summer stuff on sale... EVEN THOUGH Summer has barely started. I will never understand that, but that's a whole different post.

I found these at Chloe and fell in love. They are my idea of a perfect Summer sandal. Soft buttery leather, the perfect shade of tobacco, and super comfortable too. The fact that they were 40% off was all the reason I needed to buy them, plus a similar pair in white.

I've really been into this cropped shirt thing and thought I'd give it a try. I had to pair it with these vintage high waisted shorts (culottes? haha) to make sure I didn't show too much belly. I'm not going for a '90s Britney Spears bare midriff thing.

Banksy likes my new shoes. He's checkin' um out.

I love this ring. I found it in Hong Kong and don't wear it nearly enough. Its coral enamel wrapped around to hold a coral shaped piece of glass.
