Trend Spotting: The Sneaker Wedge

I've noticed this weird thing about sneaker wedges. They're EVERYWHERE!!!!

I think they're super cute but these Isabel Marant ones down yonder are over $600 which is kind of lame if you ask me. And since you're reading, I assume you'd ask me.
I'm not one to shy away from spending some serious cash on awesome shoes but for sneakers?? Eeeeeeeeehhhh.... I dunno. Plus, I'm a little weary cause it kind of reminds me of the time I was really into buying Nike dunks. I bought some limited edition ones I found in LA and a pair in Japan that looked like they were made of unicorns. I wore them with skinny jeans and hipster scarves. That phase didn't last long.
These are different though I think. There's something chic about them. The height helps elevate them if you'll excuse the cheesy play-on words.

I'm still a little on the fence. Maybe I'll start out with an inexpensive pair to test the waters. What do you think??

pleated skirts

Pleated skirts are everywherebut not in a bad, make-it-stop way. On the contrary, they're a basic staple that can be dressed up, dressed down, and are super season-friendly. With endless styling options, you can pair a pleated skirt from sandals to booties. These versatile skirts can also spruce up a day-time look for work, (as I have at Who What Wear check it !) and even be worn after-hours. If you're heading for drinks or a party straight from work/school, sometimes the last thing you want is to wear heels. Hence, the maxi-pleated skirt is there to hide those flats, dear readers.  #sneaky #voila
Happy pleating ! xo

I set my eye on the Zara or Charles David heels, since Miu Miu and Versus are a tad over my budget. womp
what's your favorite?

Clare Vivier clutches

While flipping through Nylon Magazine's latest issue, a picture of a clutch caught my attention. It was love at first sight. Combining the characteristics of a must-have clutch -- utility, trendy yet timeless -- Clare Vivier is a chicer alternative to American Apparel's pouches. There are so many colors to choose from, but I personally prefer "La Pouchette" seen above.

Which ones do you covet the most? xo

Earn Your Stripes

Everywhere I look I'm seeing stripes! And I'm loving it.

I NEED this bathing suit! Too bad it's already sold out... :(

Prada is going to be making faux fur versions of this!! Yes please!

fruits, monkeys, & bright stripes

Not quite over Prada's bright banana prints, neon stripes, and Stella McCartney's fruitful prints! The banana graphics remind me of Andy Warhol's work, and the loud monkey and and South-American inspired prints make me want to travel. What do you guys think?

Red Velvet

Fall runways are splashed with the soft & rich velvet fabric, which is sure to be one of the upcoming big trends.  I have already been spotting velvet curve-hugging dresses; what do you guys think of this trend?

The Clog Debate

Ever since I saw the girls clomping down the runway at Chanel's Spring 2010 show, I thought... Hmmm. Really? I've never liked clogs as there's nothing sexy about them and they are technically frumpy.

I remember even proclaiming that you would NEVER catch me in a pair of clogs. No matter who said they were cool!

Then I saw Miu Miu's clog...
Cute...ish. Still not sold.

But then these babies, also Miu Miu-

Kinda love them. Maybe because they're not opened up? I think they're really effin cool, though clearly too heavy for Spring.

This month's cover of British Vogue has Alexa Chung wearing clogs (Chanel I think) that she looks pretty great in. Then again, I personally think she looks great in most things.

So I've decided to go try some on tomorrow and see if I can get into it. This looks like a Spring trend that I will either have to pass on or try out in a cheaper way.

This one by Steve Madden seems OK and basic for a trial pair.

And of course, this beauty by Jessica Simpson that I should have bought before it sold out everywhere. Not a clog but clog-ish.

What do you all think? To clog or not to clog?? Will YOU be braving this trend or leaving it to the pros?

Are You Over the Gladiator Trend?

Do you say thumbs down to gladiators? They are everywhere right now! Usually the sign of the death of a trend is when it saturates the market so much that it trickles down to places like Payless. And what do you know... Payless has not one but a few gladiator styles.

I dunno... I'm still feeling it. Especially the higher versions! And what do you think about studs on shoes? I'm surprised to still find styles I like. Like this Lanvin shoe that hits both of these trends. A studded gladiator. Pretty cute, huh?

So where do YOU sit on the issues? Thumbs up or the dreaded thumbs DOWN...?

I Think I'm Feelin' Creepers...

No, this isn't another April fools joke. It's just that sometimes I get these feelings about trends. Sometimes I feel like they come out of nowhere, and sometimes I know they enter my brain subconsciously from all the shopping and research I do. THIS trend however... well, I'm just not sure.

I know that Creepers showed up in men's ready to wear recently, but I don't think I saw them on women. I dunno, even looking at the picture above I can't help but think "hmmmm, I dunno" but a bigger part of me is saying YES! Maybe it comes from the men's oxford trend that I just can't seem to back. They are too masculine for this girly girl. And I realize that these Creepers may be just as masculine, but at least it's in a more punkish and unexpected way. Where women are paring the men's style oxfords with dresses and wide leg trousers, I see myself in these paired with a super skinny jean, a latex legging, or even a high waisted mini!

I haven't worn or even thought about wearing Creepers since my 'I think I'm a rebel' phase in high school. But again, I have a feeling about them. The difference I guess is that in high school I would wear the super chunky round toe high up platform version. I actually hated the low pointy ones. But now, those are the ones I'm feeling. Hmmmm.

Well, anyway, I went out and bought me a pair at a favorite high school shopping spot, Electric Chair. When I went in there was actually a kid who was obviously there on Spring break cause he had an obvious Jersey tan that those boys are famous for, along with the disgusting moose hair do. He was asking about getting a tongue piercing and almost ran the eff out. Sorry, I digress. So now I have these Creepers and I'm not sure what to do with them. Ben (hubby) hates them, which I was sure he would, but I'm determined to prove him (and any of you nay-sayers) WRONG. So when I come up with the perfect "creeper outfit" I'll be sure to take a photo and post it. I have these high wasted charcoal grey skinny pants that I haven't worn yet that I think may work well. ;)

I hope you are all enjoying my little blog. Sometimes I feel like nobody is reading and that the 200 something hits I've gotten are just Ben being super supportive. Please don't be shy about commenting, you can do it anonymously.
