Paris Street Style

What have we got here...a few snaps from Paris Haute Couture street style: chic model-off-duty looks, to luxe outfits.  I have an affinity for black on black outfits, and Arizona Muse and Anja Rubik nailed it with their leather pants and black blazer + jacket, tailored to perfection.  Karlie Kloss and Olivia Palermo also spotlight leather pieces paired with a Chanel bag (on Kloss) and Louboutins (Olivia). I couldn't leave out Claire Courtin-Clarins' textured look: Christophe Josse dress, Gucci fur, Louis Vuitton bag, and D&G shoes. yum. As for Anna Dello Russo, she adds fun to her style, as per usual, wearing a Givenchy outfit and some quirky glasses. Speaking of quirky, polka dot tights add a cool element to an otherwise neutral playsuit, yes?

People's Choice Awards 2012: Trend Alert: Leather Dresses!

LEATHA Time!

If there was one trend we could latch onto from last night's People's Choice Awards 2012 Red Carpet--other than the "anything goes" from Krazeee to Klassy-looking ensembles we saw, it would be LEATHER. Several ladies wore leather on the red carpet (it's been nippy at night here in LA as of late!). Here are examples:

Kristen Bell in Valentino Spring 2012: The proverbial "leather and Lace" combination came up on Kristen Bell in the form of this very feminine red dress from Valentino Spring 2012, featuring a fitted lace and chiffon overlay top section and half-circle A-line shaped red leather attached skirt. I like the dress and those gold-creme heels. It's just the messed-up hair that troubles me. This is where non-fashion/non-hair expert people say "Someone actually got PAYED to do that hair style?"...and kids, I have to second that.

Ashley Greene in DKNY: Greene stars in the new ad campaign so naturally, she is wearing DKNY. Again, it's (wait for it): leather and lace! Yes, kids. This time, it's a very form-fitting black dress with a flared skirt panel. It's very "Sexy Morticia"! And I'm happy that her hair looks flawless; clean, soft, and healthy. Maybe Kristen Bell should switch to Ashley Greene's hair stylist. Pronto.

Elisha Cuthbert in Vawk: Vawk is a brand based out of Toronto, Canada and designed by Sunny Fong. Elisha is Canadian and therefore, it's nice she was wearing a fellow countryman's design. The gown features a gold leather/lace strapless bustier with a black silk chiffon full skirt. It's very "Wonder Woman" Linda Carter don't ya think? In other words: Me likey.

Brad + Angie at New York Film Critics Circle

Everyone's favorite power couple was red carpet-ready at the New York Film Critics Circle. Clad in head-to-toe Salvatore Ferragamo, Angelina Jolie looked effortless in a creme silk Ferragamo blouse and sleek + polished leather pencil skirt. The look was completed with a stunning emerald necklace which added a splash of bold color. A big congrats to Brad Pitt who won the Desert Palm Achievement Award, wearing a Versace suit.

opposites attract with a sparkly frock + an edgy leather jacketespecially if the lucky outfit gets to be worn by Kate Moss.

Red Carpet Report: 2011 Teen Choice Awards--The Leather Gals!!

Trend Report: Leather Dresses

Several gals wore leather on the Teen Choice 2011 red carpet (OK, it was BLUE!). It was a nice and balmy 70-something degrees in Universal City yesterday but that didn't stop the "Leather Fashion Brigade". Let's take a look:

Blake Lively in Gucci Resort 2012: Blake chose a very fitted sheath pale orange leather dress from the House of Gucci and their Resort 2012 collection (yes, kids, we are still in 2011!). I think she looks great. Nice accessories, nice pointy-toe pumps. Very 1950's chic. A Tippi Hedren up-do would have taken it from "Nice" to FAB-u-Lous!

Elizabeth Banks in J Mendel Resort 2012: Actress Elizabeth Banks also wore leather--and very nicely. Gilles Mendel is one of my favorite designers and of course: LUV his J Mendel line. The dress is edgy and fun at the same time. The tangerine color is perfect for the BLUE Carpet and I'm also a fan of the asymmetrical leather panel "cascades". It just turned this otherwise "basic" leather dress into something far more interesting.

How NOT to do Leather:

Choreographer (and Yelling Queen) Mary Murphy of "So You Think You Can Dance": No. No. And No. Oh Mary. She looks like the Hostess at a Hofbrau somewhere in a seedy part of Munich or like she works at a Meat-Packing Company somewhere in Kansas City. Who. Told. Her. To. Wear. This? And then with those 2008-looking peep-toe boots. Step off the blue carpet and go get me a flank steak...and some German Beer!!!

I'm on the right track, baby*

slightly obsessed with Kate Bosworth's style. no big deal.

Kevork Kiledjian Fall 2011 -- all black, everything*

The Little Black dresses showcased in Kiledjian's impressive fall collection are for girls like Julia Restoin-Roitfeld-- daughter of Carine Roitfeld, who recently made headlies, leaving her position as Vogue Paris Editor. Restoin-Roitfeld was sitting pretty front row at the show--along with the likes of Leigh Lezark, Fabiola Beracasa, Tallulah Harlech, & more--which says a lot about the designer's preferance in what the collection embodies. In the fashion scene, these girls are known to attend the best stylish parties, and know everyone in the industry (Leigh Lezark is always muse-ing it up with Karl Lagerfeld; hello!). That said, everything from rock-chic leather to the tight and ultra-sexy hemlines, are ideal for stylish girls who want to be seen.
