Lovers Rock 2012 | This Sunday's FREE NYC Photo Sessions for Couple's

WHY
Most couples do not have updated professional photographs of themselves. This is especially true for couples who have been married for several years or recently engaged. Lovers Rock is an annual photography event we host to donate our photographic skills to the amazing couples of NYC.

HOW
Start by liking the Lovers Rock Facebook page, then just come out and enjoy the fun!

Portrait sessions will be limited to the first 20 couples.
Couples only. All are welcome.
First come, first serve.

WHERE
At the corner of Little West 12th and 9th Avenue in the Meatpacking District

WHEN
On Sunday, February 12th, 3:00 pm will begin the portrait sessions.

WHAT
February 14th (2pm): We will post 4 images of each couple (1 per photographer) to Lovers Rock Facebook page. At this time, you, your friends and family are invited to “like” (i.e. vote) for selected images.
February 19th (9pm): The couple with the most votes from all 4 images will receive a lifestyle photo-session with the photographer of their choice. Session must be completed by June 30th, 2012 (a $600-$1200 value) subject to availability.
February 20th (6pm): Participating couples will receive all 4 hi-resolution digital photos as a keepsake.

THE FINE PRINT
Couples will be asked to complete a model release so that their images may be posted to Facebook by the photographers. Liking the Lovers Rock Facebook page is required for participation. We reserve the right to make changes due to unforseen circumstance.

What Makes Love True by Garance Doré & The Sartorialist x Tiffany's

Audrey Hepburn refers to it as the best place on earth, where nothing bad can take place (Breakfast at Tiffany's). Marilyn Monroe sings about it (Diamonds are a Girl's Bestfriend). Eartha Kitt also sings about it with specific Christmas decoration requests (Santa, Baby). And more recently, Reese Witherspoon is proposed at the very place, ubiquitous with its trademark packaging (Sweet Home Alabama). Tiffany's.

For years, Tiffany's & Co. has been closely associated with providing (pricey, but exquisite) symbols of love for couples. Hold on, hold on—before you assume that I'm about to gush over some diamond ring or a 'must-have' product, let me finish, yo. Just recently, Tiffany's & Co launched a website— whatmakeslovetrue.com —which includes an interactive photo blog, "True Love in Pictures". Since February is right around the corner (ahem, that means Valentines Day. blergh) I thought I'd be nice and share this piece of information with you romantics and/or friends who share some sort of beneficial relationship with a friend(s). Okay before I get off track, the blog features photos of pairs, captured by famed street style photographers The Sartorialist and Garance Doré—who by the way, are dating. aww #bloggerlove

If Facebook wasn't enough to showcase your sappy tendencies (yes, I went there) you can now upload your own photos to the gallery, using a special filter app on iTunes. If you use Instagram, you can participate by adding a #truelovepictures hashtag to your entries, and voila: the world now knows you are loved.

To sum it all up, the sentimental website includes photography, Valentine tips + real-life love story videos. And if you're in New York, Tiffany's has selected perfect places for couples to explore: What Makes Love - Tiffany's New York.

And, if you're NOT into this sort of thing (you don't love 'love' or cringe at the thought of cute hearts), then boo-hoo, have some chocolate. No worries though, I wasn't planning on transforming Charmed, She's Sure to Loved, She's Sure. xo

Charm Her: Style Tips

The latest entry of Charm Her (the men's installment to this blog) was inspired by one of my favorite street style photographers, Tommy Ton. I came up with a few pointers thanks to his latest action-packed snaps.

Style Tips:

- DO wear knit or printed scarves to liven up your suits + blazers (Calling all straight men: this is a green light to amp up your style—bold is not bad in this case. Girls are suckers for cute polka dots, swear!) However, if you tend to shy away from prints—and are not open to change: opt for a neutral scarf tucked under your blazer.

Hey Kanye: what's that jacket, Margiela?

- Layer outwears + parka/utilitarian coats over suits for extra chilly days— that is, unless you live in L.A.

- Give your suit a luxe finish by adding gloves—although this may work best if you're already style-conscious. gloves = red light if you currently have no idea about dressing.

- Knitted beanies are great toppers to keep warm and hide a bad hair day (you didn't think we noticed those, aye?)

- Cigarettes are not-so-stylish outside a a photograph. Skip it.

- File under Things to remember when out with your significant other: your (stylish) girl/guy is the focal point to your outfit, and you are their best accessory. Hold hands and charm each other :)
